“When I wear mascara I notice throughout the day I get a black smudge under my eye. Any tips on fixing it?”

Try tubing mascara, which you can find at drugstores as well as your local Sephora.

“What is the best beauty oil to make my foundation dewy?”

The kind of oil to use depends on your skin type, just make sure you use an oil with a low Comedogenic rating. Jojoba, Argan, and sweet Almond oil are among the most common beauty oils used.

“How do I keep my unruly brows in place?”

Clear or tinted brow mascara will be your best friend. You can find them at you local drugstores and in Sephora.

“I have discolouration in my skin but do not want to wear a full face of makeup. What should I do?”

You can always buy tinted BB or CC creams, they are very lightweight and can give you that coverage you are looking for.

“I’m a boy who enjoys wearing makeup but I don’t want to get picked on and treated unfairly. What should I do?”

“Makeup is a one size fits all” - Patrick Starrr, Don't be afraid to be and express yourself in anyway possible. If you want to wear a full face then do it, don’t let others judgment get in the way of you slaying the game.

“After finishing my makeup I always look powdery. How do I fix it?”

Mac’s fix-plus will set your makeup and take away the powdery look.

Interview with NHS Student and Model: Lindsay Doyle

By: Evi Milanovic

Q: How did you first get into modelling?

A: I first got into modelling when I was about 14/15 years old, I was scouted at Aritzia when I was in grade 8. I am a really weird person, and I thought modelling was only for ‘glamorous’ and ‘stylish’ people, so I didn’t take the person who scouted me seriously at all. Fast forward a year, to grade nine when I was scouted again by my current agent: Models International. They were more serious about getting me to come and have a meeting with them and learn about what modelling really is. From there I slowly got my start doing test shoots and creatives (unpaid test shoots to gain experience), and then got signed by an agency in Montreal, and soon after that; an agency in Toronto.

Q: What do you enjoy most about it?

A: Working as a model has introduced me to so many incredible people and given me so many learning experiences. My favourite part is that every job is different. This part of the job is really cool as you get to work with lots of different people who each have their own creative visions. This allows you to tap into different creative sides of yourself to meet the clients vision.

Q: How does this work impact your personal style?

A: Having gotten to try on a lot of different clothes and designers, I have a real appreciation for comfortable, well made, classic designs. It has also given me a great insight into the current fast fashion industry, and the amount of waste and environmental strain the clothing industry produces. I think with having this insight into the clothing industry, it has impacted me to buy more second hand clothing. I find every time I go to Value Village orSt. Vincent’s, I always find a piece I love and wear it a lot. I think pairing old with new has a certain feel to it that just looks so damn cool. When I am buying something new, I need to absolutely love what I’m buying and don’t mind investing in good quality clothes if they look great.

Q: Do you find yourself following major trends?

A: To be completely honest, I don’t know wether I really follow trends or not. I think the two major trends these days are fashion influenced and street style influenced. I think if I were to categorize myself into one of these two groups, I would fall into the fashion side. Fashion trends can be dramatically different season to season, but always tend to follow classic styles and base themselves around basic pieces. I’m all about simplicity in style, and if I could wear the same white tee and jeans everyday, I probably would.

Q: What is your advice for people who want to get into modelling?

A: Here are my top 6 pieces of adviceI would give to people interested in modelling (but I feel like they kinda apply to life in general): 1: Don’t take anything to seriously; some people are going to love you, but some are going to legit brush you off like a fly. 2: Be realistic in your goals, and your personal principles in achieving your goals. 3: Be patient but don’t slack off, you will have to work your butt off. 4: Believe in yourself; confidence is key in all aspects of life, but when you are a model, you have to market yourself to clients. 5: Take every experience as a chance to learn. 6: You don’t have to be tall or thin to be a model!! What a revaluation! But seriously, every time you see a person in a Government of Canada ad or any catalogue, that person is a model. There are lots of different opportunities out there.
