Book Review: Lullabies for Little Criminals

Lullabies for Little Criminals is a novel by Heather O’Neill. The story takes place in the old red light district of Montreal on St Catherine and St Laurent where Baby, a thirteen year old girl, is left to her own devices learning to navigate the mean streets while making the most of the small things in life that bring her happiness.

Baby lives with her father who is an heroin addict and her mother died when she was young. O’Neill captures what it is like to grow up in an unfortunate situation and she tells it like it is through the bruised innocence of Baby eyes.

I highly recommend this book, it is extremely eye opening, inspiring, troubling and beautiful.
